  1. Absolutely not. There are people that would like to have a separate bucket, though, including the fact that you can, with one click, see all tasks across all focuses (someday, scheduled, next, etc) and across areas/projects. Certainly advantages to using the waiting for tag, including the fact that it is slightly easier to remove a waiting for tag than to go to Items -> Detach from Delegate.

  2. I have been attempting to find a solution for “Waiting For” as well. I was frustrated with the “Waiting For” items clogging up my view when in my “Next” or “Today” list. I didn’t want to see them there…

My solution is actually in a previous screencast. I used to have each @ Home, @ Office, etc. as un-nested tags. I have now nested them under the “@” tag (based on your previous screencast).

So, now I have the “Home,” “Office,” “Phone,” “Errands,” “Waiting For” all nested under the “@” tag. I made sure that the “Waiting For” is the last one in the list. This is crucial for how I manage the viewing of my list.

Now, when I am ready to get work done, I open up Things, go to “Next” or “Today” and then click on the “@” tag at the top of the screen. This puts all my “@” actions into order based on how they are ordered in the tag list. And “Waiting For” are at the bottom. Now I don’t get confused looking at a list of actions with the “Waiting For” actions all mixed in and among them.

    Hope this is helpful.

  3. And… congrats on being a dad again. Our second son just turned 4 on May 5th. Yep, your math is right… the dude was actually born on 5/5/05.

    Be well,
    Doug

  4. Thanks….what’s the limiting factor? I looked at the stats, and it appeared to me that these SHOULD be able to sync….couldn’t figure out why not….

  5. @Doug Miller: When I do as you describe, and click on the @ tag in Next, it groups first by project, then by tag. Is it possible to view the list of next actions sorted only by tag?
